The visitors of this years edition of boot Düsseldorf had a chance to get acquainted with the latest product from the prominent Austrian shipyard Sunbeam. They presented their first sailing yacht with an aft cockpit in the class of 40-footers – the Sunbeam 40.1. The yacht is described as a successful combination of modern and classic in terms of design and functional solutions. Additionally, the production of the Sunbeam 40.1 is characterized by precision and a care for details. Her sporty yet elegant lines are the product of cooperation with the renowned Slovenian J&J naval architects studio, which always guarantees a high level of performances.
The emphasis on this yacht is given to her generous aft cockpit and a large folding swimming deck, equipped with a folding ladder and handrail. Teak fittings are standard for the cockpit and the swimming deck, with a large sundeck positioned between these two parts of the yacht. There are large storage spaces under the cockpit seats and under the sundeck. The twin wheel steering system offers a skipper two safe and handy helm positions from which the mainsail sheet and jib sheet can be easily handled. The double-sided mainsail sheet is standard aboard the Sunbeam 40.1, while a self-tacking jib is optional.
The interior abounds with natural light and fresh air, thanks to a smart arrangement of windows and hatches. The interior layout is offered in two or three cabin versions, while the front cabin can be equipped with a central island bed or with a V-berth and heads/shower compartment. In the aft section, there can be two double cabins or one aft cabin to port and a large walk-in storage to starboard.
Length overall of the Sunbeam 40.1 is 12.30 m and the maximum beam is 3.99 m. The draught can be 2.00 or 1.7 m, depending on the keel option. The total sailing area consists of the 46.50 m² mainsail and 41 m² genoa. The yacht is powered by a standard 29 HP engine or with an optional 40 HP engine. The tanks hold as much as 400 l of fresh water and 200 l of diesel.
