Aeolian Islands – Is It Where the Winds Were Born?

The Aeolian Islands are a group of islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of Sicily. They are also know as Lipari Islands. The islands were created as a result of volcanic activity. There are still two active volcanoes, at the islands of Stromboli and Vulcano. The prevailing winds are from west and northwest. The Lipari islands are an exciting and interesting sailing destination.
