Yacht charter costs
encompass many things (not just the price of the vessel) and depend
upon different factors. The price of the vessel rent is usually
set upon the weekly rent (a Saturday to Saturday charter). The
price of the vessel depends upon its type, age and the period you
chose for your holidays.
When setting the yacht charter details with your yacht charter
company, be sure you have decided upon the desired sailing period,
the size of the vessel, i.e. the number of people in your crew, and
whether you need a skipper or crew. This should help your charter
company in delivering you the exact cost of your yacht charter.
The yacht charter costs include the cost of the vessel
plus its equipment (dinghy and paddles, bed linen, cooking
utensils, safety equipment, nautical maps and pilot books, etc).
With the vessel cost, the yacht charter costs also include the
final cleaning of the boat (paid by cash during the check-in
procedure upon your arrival) that depends on the vessel size or the
number of people on board, transit log (paid by cash during the
check-in procedure upon your arrival) and it includes the bed
linen, crew list, check-in and -out procedure, gas for cooking,
port fees, etc. Another item in the yacht charter cost list is the
marine fuel - dependent on your
motoring needs and weather. There is also the refundable
insurance deposit that is paid either by cash or credit
card upon arrival and covers possible boat, equipment and inventory
damage. If the boat is damaged or equipment lost, the amount of the
caused damage is paid with the deposit money, whereas higher
amounts are covered by the insurance company. If the boat is
returned undamaged and with all of the equipment, the deposit will
be returned to you.
The last obligatory
yacht charter cost item are mooring fees in case you opt for
overnight stays in marinas. The price of the berth per day depends
on the size of the vessel, sailing period as well as on the
particular marina.
The optional yacht charter costs include the costs of the crew,
i.e. skipper, hostess and cook. Note that all crew member have to
be provided with food. You have to buy food and drink before
boarding. There is always a supermarket near the charter base where
you can do the shopping. There are some agencies that offer food
delivery on board at extra charge.
Additional equipment includes the outboard
engine, sails (spinnaker, gennaker, blister) - these sails are not
included in the standard equipment, and safety net if you have
children on board.
Other yacht charter costs include the one way fee (some agencies
offer a possibility of starting your sailing trip in one base, and
returning the vessel to another), extra fee for pets, transfer from
the airport to the base, parking lot, participation in regattas,
and entrance fees for national parks, should you decide to visit
them.
