Sailing around Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are the most beautiful
mixture of different cultures, historical influences, people and
inexplicable natural beauties in the whole wide world. Undisturbed
miracles lie around every corner on all eight of its islands,
creating a charming harmony of nature and warm local hospitality.
The islands' history is long and rich - it dates back all the way
to Ancient Greece. It was even thought for a while that Plato's
legendary Atlantis was one of the Canary Islands. Sailing the
Canary Islands will bring you closer to these historical mysteries.
The Canary Islands have always been a stop on the transatlantic
voyages because of the favorable trade winds - even the famous
Christopher Columbus made a stop here at the Canary Islands during
his expedition to the New World.
This Spanish archipelago, a sailor's paradise, is located off
the northwest coast of mainland Africa, in the Atlantic Ocean.
Sailing in Canary Islands is not just navigating on the waters of
an Ocean - it is also a memorable experience of exploring the place
where two continents meet in an unspoiled beauty and endless
freedom that only sailing provides. If you chose to spend your
holiday sailing the Canary Islands, you will gain memories which
will last for a lifetime.
For your convenience, we have set up several bases on three of
the archipelago's most popular islands where you can choose from
our superior yacht selection, bareboat or skippered charters to
meet all your requirements. Our skippers have extensive local
knowledge and will be glad to answer questions about local
restaurants, people and culture in general. And remember - you do
not have to be a skilled sailor, you simply have to love the sea
and the pleasures of sailing. Boat charter in Canary Islands has
never been easier and with the help of our partners we will be able
to suit any of your preferences, regardless of whether you are an
absolute beginner or a seasoned pro. Our bases in the islands of
Tenerife, Lanzarote and
Gran Canaria are just waiting to fulfill all your
sailing desires!
Tenerife
Known as the 'Island of Eternal Spring',
Tenerife is the largest and most popular of the
Canary archipelago. With its seventy kilometers of beaches, it is
every tourist's dream destination and every sailor's dream come
true. The island has a type of climate that makes it an ideal spot
for sailing, as it is possible to sail around
Tenerife all year round. Home to a non-dormant
volcano, the Island of Tenerife is beautiful
enough to become the focal point of your sailing vacation, or it
can be a part of a more extensive itinerary while you explore other
islands belonging to the Canary archipelago. By choosing our
charter agency you can choose one of three bases we have set up
there - Radazul, Santa Cruz de Tenerife or
Puerto San Miguel. All of them have well-developed
tourism infrastructure so that they suit both adventurous travelers
and those who need a degree of comfort.
Radazul is a port located in El
Rosario town, close to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the
island's capital and another of our company's bases. The port is
located in an area where the northern winds prevail so it provides
marvelous shelter for vessels sailing across the Canaries.
Radazul is an urban area as well, where you may
rest and change scenery when you are tired of sailing and spending
time on your boat. All in all, if you decide to include
Radazul into your sailing itinerary of the Canary
Island adventure, you will have made a fine choice.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as we have mentioned
earlier, is the island's capital. It is also a beautiful port from
which you may set sail in case you choose to rent a boat from our
agency. Wide avenues, squares and exotic landscapes are located
around the port so it is definitely a spot worth checking out on
your sailing vacation. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is
also where one of the most spectacular carnivals are held annually
- the carnival time is when the city attracts the largest number of
tourists. Choosing Santa Cruz de Tenerife as your
starting point while sailing Canary Islands also means proximity to
incredible beaches such as las Teresitas, the charming city of San
Cristóbal de La Laguna, one of the UNESCO World Heritage
Sites, or to the symbol of Tenerife Island - the Teide National
Park.
San Miguel, our third sailing base, is a quiet
Tenerife village which lies between the South
Tenerife airport and the towns of Los Cristianos and Las
Americas.
Marina San Miguel is very modern and offers the finest of
services. The climate here is also ideal for sailing throughout the
year. Marina San Miguel is located in the municipality of San
Miguel de Abona, on a nice location between two golf courses, which
will give you an opportunity to combine the pleasures of sailing
with golf.
Gran Canaria - the Miniature Continent
Gran Canaria, the third largest island in the
Canary archipelago, is also known as a Continent in Miniature,
thanks to its diverse landscape, wildlife and climate. Sunbathed
almost all the time and revitalized constantly by the trade winds,
Gran Canaria is an ideal sailing destination.
Visiting Gran Canaria will make your sailing
experience the one you will never forget. Apart from the island's
natural beauty, its waters are every sailor's dream come true. The
capital city of this island is Las Palmas de Grand
Canaria, located in the north of the island. This
cosmopolitan city is also a very busy port. One of the things this
sailing destination is known for is that it was the first stop that
Christopher Columbus and his crew made on their way back from the
Americas. Sailing is extremely popular in Gran Canaria, mostly
because of its predominant winds and great climate.
The south of the island is particularly popular as the local
resorts provide exciting nightlife and entertainment as well as
theme parks and eternal sunshine. The points where sailing is
mostly practiced are Las Alcaravaneras bay, Las Canteras,
Las Palmas de Grand Canaria, and Pozo
Izquierdo beach, located on the east side of the island.
Whether you decide on the skippered charter or a bareboat charter,
you will have the sailing experience of your life here in the
Gran Canaria island. Sailing anywhere in Canary
Islands provides you with a unique opportunity to observe diverse
marine life as well. Embark on your boat, bring along little
enthusiasm and curiosity and look for dolphins - the most beautiful
creatures of the sea. The south of Gran Canaria is
best known for its beaches, which are thought to be the most
beautiful on the island. Do not hesitate and simply charter a boat
and sail to Anadores, Mogan, Puerto Rico and Anfi del Mar beaches
in Gran Canaria.
Lanzarote - a sailor's paradise
Start your Canary Islands sailing vacation in Puerto
Calero and its luxurious marina, which is well sheltered
from the Lanzarote's strong winds. This marina is
a great place to wander and look at the fabulous boats and yachts
that are ready to set sail. Many transatlantic sailing expeditions
make a stop in Lanzarote's Puerto Calero. The
waters around the island provide you with perfect sailing
conditions and incredible sights - here you may see anything from
dolphins, whales, turtles to flying fish. Do not forget to check
out Timanfaya National Park which covers a quarter of
Lanzarote's surface.
Charter a boat or a yacht now and embark on your unforgettable
sailing adventure in the Canary Islands. Tenerife,
Gran Canaria and Lanzarote are
waiting just for you!
