Sailboat Features and Components
A sailboat, a sailing boat, or a sailing yacht is the most widespread type of boat you can rent. The most important characteristic of these vessels is their stability. A monohull sailboat is almost impossible to capsize, making sailboat rentals extremely safe at sea. This extreme stability is provided by the keel and ballast. Sailing yachts are mostly equipped with one mast and two sails.
The front sail of the sailing boat can be rolled up and is called a jib or genoa. The sailboat’s rear sail is the so-called main sail and can either be a conventional sail that is hoisted up the mast or a roll main sail that is rolled into the mast. The lower deck of a sailboat is divided into several sections. The forward cabin (or cabins) is usually located at the bow; however, the entire setup is completely dependent on the layout of the sailing yacht, which includes the number of bathrooms and cabins, which can often boast bunk or king-sized beds, adding to the appeal of sailboat rental.
According to size, sailing boats range from the smallest, Seascape (a sailboat commonly used for sailing courses), with only one cabin, medium-sized sailboats with two cabins to the largest with six cabins, accommodating various preferences for sailboat rental. A sailboat’s saloon is used as a dining area and a living room and can also be used for sleeping. If the saloon is used for sleeping, the table folds up, and in combination with the bench in the lounge, creates a large double bed.

Sailboat Rentals by Cabin Number and Layout
Types of sailboats by cabin number or layout is the first thing you should take into consideration because it will determine your sailboat rental's minimum size and layout. If you have a party of 6, you should know you need at least 3 cabins, because one cabin usually accommodates two people. Many sailboat rentals have a layout that accommodates 2 additional people sleeping in the saloon convertible settee. We do not recommend you do this unless you don't mind the feeling of camping in cramped quarters for a week. Additionally, the sailing boat’s saloon is usually used for fun activities, relaxation and cooking. Besides, you might run into some trouble when it comes to deciding who will sleep in the saloon.
On the contrary, if you can afford it, we always suggest chartering a sailboat that has one more cabin than necessary. It can always serve as a storage room for all that extra-gear, or as an additional quarter if someone wants to sleep alone during the cruise. It also increases your privacy. If you have more than 4 people in the crew, we also suggest having 2 heads / bathrooms; 6 people for one head / bath is inconvenient.
Always keep in mind that your sailboat rental’s layout choice will also affect your privacy. Typically, on a sailing yacht, contiguous cabins are only separated by a plywood wall. Let's just say, without getting into graphic details, that almost every sound or word in one cabin will be heard in the next. Catamarans usually have cabins on separate ends of the hulls; therefore, you can have a lot more privacy.
Luxury Sailboat Rental
When it comes to luxury yachts and yacht cruises, you don’t have to own one to enjoy one. Luxury sailing yacht charter gives you unique flexibility and benefits. If you are adventurous in spirit and enjoy the wind in your hair, a sailboat rental may be a perfect fit. Life on board a private sailboat rental is laid back, part of the pleasure of getting away from a busy world. The idea is to relax and not let inconveniences upset you while you are charter cruising.
Luxury sailing yachts are not intended for a large number of people. The main point of cruising on these sailboat rentals is that a small number of people enjoy a large and spacious area. Unlike ordinary sailboat rentals, sails on luxury sailing yachts are raised and lowered automatically – with the help of electric motors.
Luxury sailing yachts usually come with a crew that takes full care of the guests’ comfort. These sailboat rentals are very stable and are intended exclusively for people who want to use all the magic of luxury travel. Due to their size and stability, they also resist harsh weather conditions and winds. Unlike luxury motor yachts, sailing yachts allow guests to have a real sailing experience.
