Beneteau Oceanis 50

Enough Room for Everybody – Beneteau Oceanis 50 Family

It is almost the last minute to consider 2014 summer sailing vacations and it is very important to choose a yacht on time. Although it is not the brand new type of sailing yacht, it has everlasting qualities that are perfect for a sailing vacation.

I would like to share with you some impressions about Beneteau Oceanis 50 Family. It was launched in 2010 as the fifth generation of a long-range cruising yacht, as the successor of successful Beneteau Oceanis 49. The first detail to be noticed is the fixed arch that holds the mainsail sheet which looks stylish and contemporary in appearance.

This innovative solution enabled Beneteau designers to create wide and effective spacious companionway and cockpit below it. The deck appears very clean and offers plenty of sunbathing and moving area thanks to low-profile deckhouse equipped with elegant windows which contribute to Beneteau Oceanis 50 Family’s modern look. Although saloon windows are rather low there is plenty of natural light and ventilation inside the yacht. Massive forward sail locker provides enough space not only to store numerous and robust fenders that every 50 footer needs; but also for swimming equipment and ‘summer toys’ such as air cushions and similar accessories.

Interior arrangement could be designed in several versions depending on private owners’ demands and charter option. Owners’ versions range between a double cabin model with a spacious stern stateroom; and triple cabin model where twin double cabins are situated in the aft and owner’s suite in the bow. The charter option is equipped with two double cabins in the aft, two in the bow and the additional cabin, just after the galley. This additional cabin can be used for skipper and the luggage or for two smaller kids who can sleep in bunk beds. The charter option can also be equipped with a folding table in the saloon which opens the opportunity for Beneteau Oceanis 50 Family to accommodate more than 10 souls in total.

The crowd of that size should not worry about the comfort because there are charter versions with 3 and 4 toilets while water tank with almost 1000 l of capacity should be enough for few days of sailing without visiting a marina to refill. The engine with 75 HP is also strong enough to move this yacht out of the port while sail area ranging between 60 and 65 sq m of the mainsail and about 55 sq m of genoa size; usually enough to provide relaxed and smooth sailing.

I wish you a calm sea, a fine wind and a strong mast!
