The island of Murter is located in the central Adriatic, the most popular sailing area in Croatia. Easily accessible from here are other interesting Dalmatian islands, as well as several national parks. An excellent starting point for a journey across the area would be Marina Betina, situated on the island. Marina Admiral was founded in 1981 in Opatija. Elite tourism in Opatija dates back to the end of the 19th century. Marina Admiral offers safe berths and luxury accommodation for 160 berths in the water and 40 dry berths. There is also a possibility of a summer/winter berth where the vessels are kept on a dry berth or in the water, depending on the season.
Sailing in and out of the Adriatic Sea has been made easier. Marina di Orikum, situated at the south part of the bay of Vlorë, is the second biggest Albanian port and functions as a part of a hotel and residential establishment. The bay of Vlorë and marina di Orikum are well protected by Karaburun peninsula, perfect for development of nautical and tourist facilities.

Like it is the case with every destination, there are two opinions about sailing in Croatia. One group loves the place and wants to come again, while the other does never want to return again. To avoid becoming a part of the second group, read the first in the series of two posts.
I would recommend that only skipper is on board when doing check-in with a mariner. They have to move up and down the deck and check all systems inside the boat which is much easier when there are no luggage, impatient family members, kids, pets and packages of food and drinks on their way.

Zadar is one of the largest towns on the Croatian coast, and one of the most popular ones with tourists. D-Marin Marina Borik is a small and charming marina located in the center of Zadar. The marina can accommodate 185 vessels at sea and another 50 on land, and offers a variety of services.
ACI Supetarska Draga is located on the SE part of the Supetarska Draga bay on the island of Rab. The marina can accommodate 328 yachts in water and 53 on dry berths. The island of Rab is very well connected with the mainland so it can be reached easily. Besides the restaurant in the marina, there are plenty of family-run fish restaurant in the village.
A happy family was returning from their sailing holiday in the Adriatic, when they were stopped by the police in Dubrovnik Airport because they did not pay one additional night in a marina. Despite the efforts of the base manager to persuade them to pay, they remained stubborn, so the base had no other option but to call the police. The point is: read your charter contracts carefully and listen to your charter agents!
