Multiple Parties for Just One Regatta

Here is a story about everything but ordinary regatta that takes place between the Croatian islands of Dugi Otok, Ugljan and Pašman – Gladuša. The special thing about this small but interesting regatta is that there are live concerts and parties the night before the race. It is also a very traditional regatta so you won’t miss the traditional march Tovareća mužika or Donkey’s music.

Mrduja Regatta

Mrduja Regatta is the oldest and second biggest regatta in Croatia. It takes place in the first weekend in October, signifying the end of summer and marking the beginning of the racing season. The regatta starts from Split, passes between the islands of Brač and Hvar and then turns back. The winner of the 84th edition was Mate Arapov, but, when it comes to Mrduja, it is not that much about competing as it is about participating and preserving the tradition.

Plastic Seafood

The fish market in Split has recently been richer for two new seafood stands. The offer at these stands consisted of all sorts of plastic packages, bottle caps, Styrofoam boxes and syringes, all washed up on the shore from the sea. This exhibition was part of a larger project, whose aim is to influence decision makers and general public to think about the human relation to the sea and nature in general because marine pollution is becoming one of the world’s most important issues.

The Seabin is an automated marina rubbish bin that collects floating rubbish, debris and oil from the water. Its main purpose is to solve and prevent ocean pollution problems. It was designed to clean marinas, ports and yacht clubs, which are a perfect place to start cleaning oceans because there is no open ocean swells and storms, and the bin works in a controlled environment.
